How To Fix Your Bricked iPhone
When your iPhone is suddenly stuck on a black screen and stops responding,
you may be in a bit of a panic. Ending up with a
bricked iPhone is probably the worst scenario for any iPhone user who tinkered
with the phone. Trying to unlock
carriers and download third-party applications are popular reasons why iPhone brick. Being bricked implies a
totally useless phone, unable to make or receive any calls or
messages, no games, no music and no apps menu.
Sometimes the solution is really simple, and
sometimes you may have some reason to panic. Regardless of how things may look,
you should be able to solve the problem easily.
First, we will try the simplest cure, using
the reset. Hold down the power button and the home button synchronously for at
least 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo and the device will boot as
normal. If the device doesn’t boot up, try to switch on the device using the
power button. Plug your device into your
computer and perform a full restore in iTunes.
Restoring
an iDevice is pretty easy, just go to the left column corner in iTunes and
select your device and click the restore button. iTunes will automatically
download the latest available version of iOs and install it on your phone. Wait
for the downloading and installation to finish, you’ll be asked if you want to
restore your back up or set up your device as new. Select yes, if you want to
your old settings and preferences back. Be prepared to let your phone sync for a while—especially if you have a lot
of music and movies onboard. When it's done, check if it’s back to normal
again.
If
restoring doesn’t do the trick, we will use another method by using DFU mode. This method is used if you cannot restore using iTunes’ standard recovery mode. DFU mode or Device
Firmware Update, as the name suggests, is where users can
downgrade firmware, upgrade firmware and other kinds of work. First, Launch
iTunes and make sure your phone is connected. Press and hold the Power button and Home button
simultaneously and release the power button after 10 seconds. Continue to press
the home button until a popup message appears in iTunes window that an iPhone
is detected in recovery mode. Don’t worry if your screen goes blank, as it is
normal. If you did it right, you will get an iTunes popup to restore. Check if the device is working
fine after the restore.
When
restoring your iPhone fails on your computer, you can try your luck and do the
steps above on another computer. This may take care of the problem. But if the
problem still persists, you probably need some assistance. Take your device to
an Apple Store or an Apple-authorized repair shop and tell them it suddenly stopped
working. Leave the details out, the
Apple employee who fixes it will probably know you were trying to jailbreak but
don’t say anything about it. It
will void your warranty if you mention you tried to jailbreak. And that’s it!
Your iPhone should be working fine after a few minutes. Make sure you take care
of it so as not to brick it again.
