Prevent Hair Fall: Careful Styling Don'ts
Everyone wants to look beautiful as
they say, the hair is one’s crowning glory. Believing this fact, people subject
their hair to various styling such as cutting it pixie style to growing it
long, dyeing black hair to blonde, highlighting, bleaching, straightening,
curling and the works. However these can
cause damage and eventually, hair loss.
Styling your hair carefully can be a
way to prevent hair loss. Here are the don'ts.
DON'T
1. Use hot curlers, hair dryers, and
irons too much.
Heat tends to weaken hair which can lead to fragility and
brittleness and eventually hair loss.
Use blow dryers on special days. And to remember to switch to cold air at the end of your session. This will close the hair shaft and leave the hair smooth, glossy and shiny.
3. Dye your hair impulsively.
Slowing down on dyeing is also a
way to prevent hair loss. Let
one to one and half month pass before trying it again.
4. Use tight
elastics, pins and clips every day.
Let your hair breathe. Elastics and other hair accessories can cause stress
on the hair which will result in breakage. Instead of rubber elastics, try
fabric or cloth scrunchies, which are less harsh on the hair. You can also use
clips that have padding.5. Opt for hairstyles that pull on the hair.
Cornrow should be avoided since this type of hairstyle weakens the hair shaft. But of course, hairstyles like this can still be worn if done carefully and not to tightly.
6. Braid your hair tightly.
This may curl you hair easier but it can lead to damage in the long run. Tight braids can result in decreased shine, brittle cuticles, uplifted cuticle scales and possibly even the removal of the entire cuticle layer.
7. Don't use a brush on wet hair.
Use a wide-toothed comb instead. Start at the ends then gently work your way up.
8. Don't forget to clean your brush.
This is self explanatory :) Soak 'em up regularly.
So this will be my first post on the
hair fall series. Watch out for more :)
